So Grateful for Friends who Write

Posted: August 2, 2013 in writing

For any of you who have been keeping up with my blog, you know I have a problem with procrastination.  I have set a goal for myself.  I want my novel ready for print by November 15th of this year.  That said, I sat down and read my book…again.  It is such a good story, but it isn’t enough.  I remember when I was a girl, my parents had a house built in a new subdivision.  We drove out and took pictures of the entire process from beginning to end.  The foundation after it was poured.  The frame after it was erected.  The roof and walls.  Then was the fun part, all the cabinetry and carpet and wall paper and fresh paint.  All that was left was for us to move in and make it our home.  My book is at the frame stage.  I need to go in and put on the roof and get those walls up.  But it is such a challenge to do so.

This is where my friend comes in…she writes too and has much the same issues as myself.  We both share much anticipation in reading each others books.  So to keep us both writing like crazy, I will write a bit of my book and send it to her.  In turn, she will write a bit of her book and send it to me.  But neither of us gets any new scenes until we return the favor.  I know that I will wait with bated breath for the next thing to happen in her book, thus making me get my pages done and sent to her.  Seems like a brilliant idea.  We start tomorrow.  Let’s see how goes.  I will keep you posted.  Let’s get that roof on and get those walls up!

Until next Friday, I bid you farewell.
